East-Kazakhstan region

East Kazakhstan - is the territory that connects South Siberia and the Altai with Semirechye and Central Asia. Due to the geographical position, it played an important role in the historical development of the tribes and peoples of Western Asia at all times.

Archaeological excavations show that the region was inhabited since ancient times. This is evidenced by the traces of ancient mining developments, irrigation canals, and the ruins of numerous structures preserved in the Altai, in the Zaisan hollow, on the slopes of the Saur and Tarbagatai ranges.

East-Kazakhstan region

Berel is an outstanding monument of the ancient nomads of the Kazakh Altai. To date, this monument is the only one in Kazakhstan with preserved finds from organic. Burel burial ground consists of more than 70 burial-funeral constructions of various sizes.

Ancient nomads did not accidentally choose this wonderful natural corner of nature of the Kazakh Altai for burial of their supreme leaders. The valley, where the mounds are located, rises considerably on the terrain, on all sides it is bordered by high mountains covered with lush taiga vegetation. According to the mythological representations of the ancients, the mountains were endowed with a special meaning, since the gods lived on their summits, the souls of their ancestors left the upper world. The location of the mound in the mountains, on the bank of a mountain river, linking the upper and lower worlds - is deeply symbolic. The valley and the burial mound itself - the mound - served as a temple.
