North-Kazakhstan region

The North-Kazakhstan region is located in the north of Kazakhstan, it occupies the southern outskirts of the West Siberian Plain and part of the Kazakh Hummocks (Sary-Arka). In the territory of the region there are a lot of picturesque landscapes, mountain ranges and forests, botanical sanctuaries and relic pine forests, Lake Shalkar and the natural zones of Imantau. Hundreds of archaeological, historical and architectural monuments are under the protection of the state. The most interesting archaeological sites are located in the floodplains of the rivers Esil, Chaglinka and Iman Burluk.
